When you have a job, and looking for another, are you entitled time off to go to job interviews?

I am not sure the rules on time off for interviews???!
When you have a job, and looking for another, are you entitled time off to go to job interviews?
No, not unless there is a layoff and you are being separated from employment through no fault of your own(either termination for misconduct, or you resign). Additionally, if your position is being eliminated, you may possibly be allowed time to search for another position.
Reply:No you are not entitled to time off, why would your current employers give you time off to find a job with someone else? Think about it.

The only way an employer is ok with that is if they are relocating and you aren't going with them, then they would understand and allow you to have time off, like one of my employers did. chances are you'll either need to schedule the interview after work or before work and tell your employer you have a doctors appointment.

There are no rules on time off for interviews, bottom line is employer's don't like it.
Reply:That's like asking your spouse to give you "time off" to cheat, in order to find another partner before filing for divorce. Are you entitled? No. Can you do it anyway? Yes.
Reply:Not at all. Why would your current company give you time off to hook up with another company? Its like asking your girlfriend to give you a free pass with another girl. People don't like to share. Companies are the same.
Reply:No, you aren't entitled to time off for any reason actually, let alone for interviews. Try to schedule interviews outside of your normal work hours.
Reply:You need to schedule the interviews around your work schedule if at all possible. If your company finds out you are looking , depending on the size they may not think to kindly of it :))
Reply:No. You have to apply for annual leave for job interviews.
Reply:not always. that all depends on your supervisors.
Reply:No, unless you count being fired.
Reply:no

you need to call in sick or take a vacation day
Reply:Get real !!!

I bet you are in America
