Should I ask for a raise prior to looking for a new job?

I recently graduated and have a decent job but am interested in looking at my options. I am supposed to be reviwed this month and likely recieve a raise, however this is yet to be mentioned much less happen. I feel confident that my employer would not like to lose me; so should I approach them and tell them I am looking somewhere else or should I just look and leave if I find something.

Don't tell them your plans ... look around for a job ,without mentioning it at your present job ... if they know you are looking they probably won't bother giving you a raise or promotions or help you in any way ... Why should they waste their time making you happy ifyou aren't going to stay there?
Reply:I think you should create a list or chart of things you do or have done that surpasses what the company originally expected of you. Use this list/chart to give your employer a visual of your contribution to the company and to back up your reason for deserving a raise, your answer cant just be "because I want one" you have to have supporting evidence of EARNING it. Good luck.
Reply:If you tell them you are looking elsewhere for employment it is very likely you will have plenty of time on your hands to pursue your search.
