Goodluck:)
What steps should I take to find a government job. I'm looking for more job security?
Check out the Judiciary website in your state. If you see a job description you're qualified for, take the test. You'd have to score high enough on the list in order to be called for an interview, however those who have scored low are sometimes called as well depending on how many before them were rejected/retired or decided not to take the position. Don't accept an appointed job - you won't be considered permanent and if there are budget cuts, appointees are usually the first to go.
Reply:The first answer is dead-on I don't think I could have answered it better. USAjobs is good, and I actually just found out about studentjobs.gov today while at work. It's great that you are looking into government work. When I think back on previous jobs I think why was I wasting my time at jobs that outsource and will drop you when someone who will do the job cheaper comes along. Great benefits, good job security, why work anywhere else?
