How do I start looking for a new job in a completely different field?

I am still young (25). I have a master's degree in special education but am not sure if teaching is for me. I am going to try teaching another population but if that doens't work out I am going to make a drastic change. Where would I start? I dont' want to go back to school. Do you think a company would hire me entry level?

Hi:

I'm not sure if anyone would take a chance to hire you as an entry level, but you might first try to get a little volunteer experience in the different teaching area. Like if you wanted to teach adults, maybe you could get some experience teaching a class like 'English as a second language' or teaching adult reading classes if you have some extra time. Here in the KCMO area, there are also adult education classes run through UMKC's Communiversity - you are free to offer whatever class you think might be a good one, and people have the option of signing up for it. Also, area colleges have more structured adult education classes, and those might be a good start, too.

Don't overlook volunteer experience on your resume, because it does show possible employers that you have a willing driven and helpful personality. Hope these suggestions help and might give you some ideas.
Reply:May I suggest looking to your college for placement services? Also, is there a College Job Fair nearby? Also,

prepare to send resumes on the internet job sites. And there are always the headhunters on line. And there's the temp employment agencies. As you are an educator, perhaps you can test-run some career options during the summer breaks.

Don't forget the key word of serious job hunters, network! Best!!!
