Yes. Do NOT go to a website somewhere that promises to get you employment or sign you up for so-called "surveys". Put a small ad in your local paper, search for companies in your area and fire off some emails, (call Human Resources and get the proper person's name and email address). In search engines, get away from the wheeler-dealers that have the first twenty pages tied up by manipiulating the search engine. Go to the middle pages and start finding the real companies or organizations. Check your city for databases (for instance, in my first search to do the same thing you want to do, I ran across my city's database entry that named every business available in my city, along with contact information. The Yellow Pages is also a great place to start). Consider it your job for 1 1/2 hours a day to look for data entry positions.
If you absolutely cannot resist going in on one of the sites where they promise to get you jobs for a fee or pay you for reading email, READ the terms and conditions before even signing in and know how to interpret what is in there. "Requires participation in offers..?" My advice? Pay yourself. Get your own jobs.
Good luck!
