You have to start with a resume that says what you really want to do not something vague. Example: To find a job as a sales trainee where I can use my strong interpersonal skills. Lots of people put down something like I want a position that will afford me personal growth. That goes into the wastebasket.


Another mistake people make is to just look at help wanted ads. Only 10% of all jobs are filled through ads. Get out the yellow pages and look up companies that have the job you want. Call up and ask if you can fax over the resume and to who's attention. Follow up in a week with a phone call.
