What should I wear when I go looking for a salon job?

I want to be a shampoo girl and I really want to make an impression, I am 17 years old and I want to look older. I plan to wear some sort of heels and jewelry. What exactly should I wear?

Reply:Dress in trendy clothes but neat, nothing too tight or revealing. Don't pack on the make up but look nice. It is important you look fashionable and up to date.


Go to the mall or salons and make a note of what the empoyees are wearing, dress similar.

Reply:1st you should not go to salon's and copy what other employees are wearing. Why not? Because you dont know how long they've been working there. They probably been there for awhile and dont need to dress up anymore. You wanna wear something that the manager will remember you by professionally. I say you should wear black slacks or a long black skirt up to your knees with a red or pink button down with a colar dress shirt. NO COSTUME JELWERY! Stylists usually dont wear jewelry because it comes in contact with their work. Some diamond earings and a watch will be just fine for your first time in the salon. For the shoes I would have to say some black flats of some sort. Something that covers your toes. You dont want to wear heels seeing that you will be on your feet all day. Your working in a Salon, not a office or night club. Style your hair the way you would style one of your clients. That shows the manager what your capable of doing and some of your best work. Don't wear too much make up. Wear mascara to bring out your eyes and blush to lighten up your cheeks with a clear shade of lip gloss. You definetly dont want to look like some street walker.
