Looking for any job in the san diego area, have semi-bad background - Any chance?

I'm planning on moving to san diego in the next few months but my first agenda is finding and securing a job before moving.

The problem is this.

I have a deffered judgement felony for theft, the amount is $8000 and will be taken off my record once all restitution is payed, this was almost 5 years ago.

I also have two possesion of marijuana tickets, the last one was 2 years ago.

I have about 8 years of Janitorial work experience and have now aquired my A+ certification for PC tech work ect, but I think I may have wasted my time getting it with my previous background. :o/

Is there any chance in me finding a job besides Mcdonalds in the SD area?

Its going to have to pay enough for roughly $600 in rent (guess) splitting a apartment with a room-mate, plus car insurance, (cheap) food and other vital things I'll need to "survive".

Help! I'm extremely nerv racked about this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

The felony theft and restitution thing might be a problem, though i'm not really sure on that, depends on the employer I guess. But the marijuana tickets shouldn't really matter, there's a lot of weed in this state and laws are fairly lax; as long as it's under an ounce law enforcement here really doesn't care.

Temp agencies are always a good way to get a job quick and they will usually pat at least $10-15 an hour, which isn't much but will get you by until you can find a better job. And if you for some reason cannot find a job and need anything ASAP go work at In-N-Out Burger if you are going to work in fast food, they're starting pay is $9.50 an hour and it's not the typical, crappy fast food joint like Burger King or MacDonald's. I worked there for 2.5 years in high school and would never consider working in fast food except at In-N-OUt.

But with your previous experiance and certifications then i'm sure you can find a better job. Try all the job websites like monster, careerbuilder.com, also look at jobing.com and craigslist for jobs. Temp agencies like Apple One, Manpower, Ranstaad, ect.. are also good places to look for jobs and can place and land you a job fairly quick. My friend works for Raanstad and hooked up another friend with an IT job so check out that temp agency for some IT work.
Reply:of course! buger king! wahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. or the geek squad if u are a pc technishin
Reply:You know the only way to find out is to try. My recommendation is for you to check out jobing.com and see what is available in the area of work you want. And then you can submit your resume online or call them and find out that way. I can't say for sure you wont be able to but it might be a little bit harder of course thats not just here in San Diego that is anywhere you go. It's just gonna be harder to find a job with any sort of record. Good luck!

Reply:I.m also mooving there, as far as I know there's a high demand for service jobs and retail.

and most jobs (poeple actually working) are in retail.

the problem is that these jobs don't pay enough to make a living in san diego.

you'll probably need to have two jobs until you can find something better.

if you get desperate, try being a waiter, the tips are great.

don't get a fast food job.
