Hi Dee,
As for jobs, try Craig's List. Here's a few links for you:
Austin: http://austin.craigslist.org/
Dallas: http://dallas.craigslist.org/
Houston: http://houston.craigslist.org/
Of course, try Monster.com! I've had success with them.
As for WHERE to live, I wish I could help more. I've spent very little time there. If I were to move, I would look at the large cities I think, and consider the proximity to the ocean. I'm a Californian as well and I prefer to be near the water. So, I might look at Houston. Dallas and San Antonio are great cities with lots to offer so I'd check them out as well.
Best of luck!
Im moving to texas from california and I was wondering what is the best place to look for jobs and to live??
If you're looking for petroleum or energy related jobs, the Odessa/Midland area is in the midst of a boom right now. Everyone is hiring. Housing is a little short though.
Reply:IMO, Austin is the most laidback town in Texas, but there is a glut of overqualified people who love it and don't want to leave. You'd probably have the best luck in the Dallas or Houston areas, depending on what you do. Houston is disgustingly hot and humid, but it is close to the gulf. I don't think I could ever live there, myself. I've lived near Austin and a variety of places around Dallas. Dallas isn't close to much. . . You'll probably be missing natural beauty there.
