When should I start looking for a new job?

I am employed full-time at a company that I like; however, I have recently graduated college and I need to find a job that will get my career more on-track, and more importantly, move out of the town that I have lived in my whole life! I am waiting until I hit the 1-year mark at my current job before I quit, but when should I start LOOKING for a new job? Ideally I would like to have employment secured before I quit, because I will also be relocating if everything goes smoothly. My employer will be pretty understanding about it, I imagine.
When should I start looking for a new job?
If you're not wanting to do anything until May I'd wait - check out what's out there, what States/Cities/Etc. pay what for whatever it is you're interested in, and then come the end of March or early April start actively pursuing your dream job!

Reply:I started at the company that I work at as an assistant. Now after only 1 year I am a manager and manage a team of 5. I am happy with my job. But I always look. I think you should too. You never know when the better position will be open and you will be asked to fill it. I think you are on the right track. All the things you have written shows your character. you are doing great. Keep up the good work and good luck with everything.
Reply:How long have you been at this job? If you're close to hitting the one year then start looking. i'm sure you would like to use your current job as a reference. if you stick with it for at least a year, i'm sure your employer will give you a good reference and will be more understanding. It will be better to stick it out in the long run.
