I am working for a factory that makes fiberglass compound material. My doctor told me I'm allergic to the material I work with. So, I need to find a new job. I want a job I can start planning for the future, A place I can retire from. What should I take into consideration before starting my search?
What do I need to know before I start looking for a new job?
That its not a place that college students go to find jobs :)
Reply:you must take high courses in any language you must be clever in computer if this happend you can find a jop so easily
Reply:You are not going to find a job you can retire from right now. Unless you dont plan on furthering your education. In that case Mcd's is good. I see the same people there from when I was in middle school.
Oh yeah, I graduated HS in 2000
Reply:Keep in mind your schooling and personal desires. If you are young, there will probably be a lot of jobs in your future, before settling on one to retire from.
If you get into a government type job, or even the military, they have great retirement plans, and many possibilities for a variety of jobs.
Good luck, sounds like a good plan! (oh, and you may want to look into a medical compensation claim if you are having long term effects from your allergy)
Reply:Think about what job field you want to enter into next, and then remake your resume to that job field's area of interest!
Ex: if you want to enter the retail (clothing) career, then change your resume into "I have great experience in sales and customer service..." blah blah blah you get the point.
Reply:you need to know why u got fired from the last one
Reply:fibreglass very very very bad.for all .
get a good job.
try the academic subframe of resaerch etc,,much healthier.
Reply:First off, make sure you can pay off your bills on time. Then look for a job that offers good benefits and is something you want to do.
Reply:for one nothing is for sure so if you want to retire at a job i suggest you have a talent so go to school again like nurse or fork lift operator etc that way it is not hard to find a job....also go to a employment agency to help with your resume and have guidance on what kind of job or where to look good luck
Reply:you should know how to impress a boss
Reply:You need to combine your talents, your potential with the jobs that are available, in your area, if you intend to stay there.
A good way to begin is to take the free Myers-Briggs tests that are available all over the web. This will give you an idea about your psychological personality, and once you know your preferences, you can do searches to find out about fields that may be appropriate for you. (There are other psychological tests that are good, too, but this is a start).
Next, take a look at the suggestion career fields to find out what the possible job outlook will be. If you are located in the U.S., then take at look at the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. Lastly, check your local sources (newspapers, Craigslist, etc.) and see anyone is hiring for the job(s) that interest you, what they are paying, etc.
Last, of course - find out what it will take (education) to get that job. (Realize, also, there is probably no such thing as a job that will last the rest of your life - that's reality).
Reply:Take into consideration what you are happy doing. What are your interest and the salary of those jobs. If you a passion and feel good about your career then you'll do alright.
Reply:you need to know what kinda job you want, weather it is data entry, customer service etc go to monster, craigs list etc and put in a resume
Reply:First, think about your dream job. What does your office look- like? How many people report to you. Now, jump 29 years from now. What will you be doing? Think along these lines and find others you can talk to about your passion. Once you know where you are going in the future, you can anticipate and plan for your future,.,
Reply:I would start with the job training program. They go throw inter-wing skills and Rama Writing and how to find and keep a Job you like.
Reply:first of all you should treat u health take care of your allergic trouble because nobody may work without health, so make sure about it and go searching another position that gives u the chance of getting more money, satisfaction and keep your health well. good luck nice girl!

When looking for a new job, how long is the average person unemployeed?
Do you go for the first job or wait for something potentially better?
When looking for a new job, how long is the average person unemployeed?
Depends on the salary level. The higher the salary level, the longer the period of unemployment. What you should do when you find a job that isn't what you're looking for, depends on your situation. If you are getting good leads and can afford to wait, go ahead and wait. If you desperately need a paycheck, take the job but continue to job hunt. Tough to do with a new job, but feasible.

Where do you look for entry level jobs in the web design industry?
I don't know where to look. I've tried monster.com type sites and the jobs listed always have specify that you need at least so many years of experience.
An internship would be fine too, but I don't know how to get into one of those either.
Where do you look for entry level jobs in the web design industry?
Forget using web sites to find entry level jobs. You have to have something more than a brief resume without any professional experience to get a job -- you need to network, in-person.
For instance, you can volunteer for nonprofits to help them with building or expanding their web sites. What nonprofits are there in your area? If you are in the USA, you can try http://www.volunteermatch.org, or you can call your local United Way agency and ask if there is a list of nonprofit organizations in your area. This helps you build up your portfolio and list of references who can attest to the quality of your work. This is real experience -- just because you aren't getting paid doesn't make it any less so.
You can also ask family, friends and neighbors with small businesses if they need a web site, and tell them you will do it for free or for a nominal fee, just for the experience.
You also want to have certification of your web design skills, and if you have experience/full understanding of making web sites fully accessible, per accessibility standards for people with disabilities or using assistive technologies, this will give you a competitive edge. See http://www.knowbility.org for more information on this.
Also, what happens if a potential employer Googles your name? Will he or she find profiles on various online social networks (FaceBook, MySpace, LinkedIn) that showcase your skills/capabilities?
You need to look for professional associations to join in your area, so you can network with other web designers -- are there any chapters of any of the national and international associations that come up if I google

When is the best time for me to start looking for a new job when i am currently 6 months pregnant?
I would like to have a job by the time my 6 week recovery period is over. Please help!
When is the best time for me to start looking for a new job when i am currently 6 months pregnant?
I would update the resume now then start sending them out a couple of weeks before the baby is born. You probably won't get interviews until after it is born then can talk about when you can start. Ask your husband to take a couple of weeks off when the new job starts so you can work even if you aren't ready to put baby in daycare. There isn't a special reason to wait 6 weeks is there?
Reply:well it wouldn't hurt if you start exploring possible work positions you are most keen to join now. You can even give out resume or letters of intent to the companies you intent to explore BUT make sure you specify your condition right now and that actual employment would only be possibl after the 6 weeks recovery period. I am sure companies (specifically Human Resources Dept) would be more than glad to keep your file as future reference - if they find your qualifications appropriate to their needs. Good luck

can make some money at home while waiting for your new born baby to arrive^^
Reply:I guess it depends on what kind of job you are looking for. A lot of companies would be reluctant to hire someone 4 1/2 months before the can start working.
Reply:good luck on that one maybe retail jobs
Reply:I would start looking now and just let people know exactly when you can start working. It doesnt hurt to look early

I am looking for legitimate, no fee proven to earn money work from home jobs. IS there such a company??
I have gone to hundreds of websites and feel like they are all a scam. All the companies want you to pay upfront, how can that be legitimate. I would love to hear from someone that knows of such a company or companies. I need to be able to provide for my daughter and accomodate her schedule. There must be an internet company that you don't have to pay a fee to join and actually make legitimate money without any out of pocket expense. PLEASE HELP!!
I am looking for legitimate, no fee proven to earn money work from home jobs. IS there such a company??
yes of course there are many home based jobs available on net that are legitimate and genuine but the thing is that there also many spammers among them too. so all u need to do is NEVER PAY ANYONE ANYTHING AT ALL FOR A JOB YOU DO FOR THEM AND NO MATTER HOW TEMPTING THEY MAY SOUND. COZ THEN THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO BE A SCAM.
anyways i do a home job without paying anyone anything atall and earn a satisfactory income too.for more details on the job please visit the following sites. i hope you find the job you are looking for real soon. all the best!!!

Reply:Of all the legitimate work at home jobs, customer service jobs require the minimum skills and are easily available.
Information on customer service work from home jobs without any initial deposit/registration fees is available at http://cs8.info
Reply:If you expect any fullfilling or decent job working from home good luck with that! There is no such thing usless you have a skill or service that people want, but then you wouldn't be searching websites to work for someone else.
Reply:no. all you will run into is other people charging you a lot of money to tell you where to look for work and then THOSE people charge you. Usually it is a very long survey where you have to "buy" something to finally get a "gift card" to somewhere not even near you.

Should I start looking for another job so soon?
Last week my boss called my department together and informed us that his supervisor told him that if we don't step up our work that she will let us go and outsource our jobs to another company. I agree I can always improve and I try to do so everyday but the problem is that she isn't happy with the work my boss is doing for the most part. I've only been here eight months and I planned on looking for another job after my year rolled around but the fact she has threatened to fire us if "we" don't step up has me worried. I've never been fired before and I want to leave the company on my own terms. So should I start looking for another job now?
Should I start looking for another job so soon?
Yep. Start looking. It's not worth it to have that kind of threat on your head. If the boss isn't happy with your department's performance (but you're doing superior work on your own), then either look for another department or job, but try to leave on your own terms. Try to find something else and then give notice that you're leaving.
Reply:if you feel that is what you need to do then try it!
I personally would explain to your VP that your boss isn't doing there job right and if given the chance you could proof that to your VP by doing that humans job!
that way you get promoted and can show them what is up!
Reply:yes, and in the interviews simply state that the company has mentioned eliminating your department and you wanted to start the job hunt before you were out the door.
that is understandable.
don't mention the threat of shutting down and the poor job of your department.
your management team needs to understand that threats like that will just result in poor motivation and high turnover.
that's poor management on your boss and his boss.
take care and good luck on the job hunt.
Reply:Yes, it is always good to have something waiting in the wings. No one will look after you, but yourself.
Reply:If I were in your shoes, I would definitely be looking for another job. Right or wrong, the way I would read it is if management is threatening to outsource, they're looking for a reason to outsource. It might be an idle threat to shake people up (or maybe just shake up your boss), but if I needed my job, I wouldn't take it idly.
Good luck!

Looking for Cruise ship jobs? Are the web site for real?
Ok, been looking into working on cruise ships, and found a handful of websites that advertise help, for a cost.
They all look extreamly dodgy.
The above one comes up a few times with different names. Does any one have any experience?
Cheers
Looking for Cruise ship jobs? Are the web site for real?
I work on the cruise ships and I would suggest as some of the others have said, contact the main cruise lines and find out more. Also on the company web sites there are buttons to the vacancies, but all are not apparent, some are called 'about us' etc. so keep searching. I also contacted a company that supplied a very good guide book with job profiles, how to get work, contact addresses etc and you got a bi-monthly news sheet with all latest vacancies. They are based in Glasgow, so plug it into a search engine, they were helpful. The service does cost a few quid but in my mind well worth it.
But be prepared for some long work hours and not large pay as it鈥檚 made up with tips in the areas you are looking at.
Just done some research for you as it was a couple of years ago I used them and the company can be found on www.cruiseservices.co.uk
The other thing to think of is 10 hours a day is a good day in some jobs on the ships with 11 and 12 being more like it, with the accommodation and bar work, other jobs have less work time, or if you have experience in something and get offered a supervisors position, or go for administration on the Pursers side of life, the working hours are less. but the company I mention will check your CV and suggest the options.
Good Luck
Reply:ALL cruise ship companies HAVE A WEB SITE... so you can GO TO THEIR SITES and get information on the jobs and openings they have and IT'S FOR FREE. If you are too lazy to check out the individual web sites and have to rely on some commercial site to force feed the information to you.. then YOU MUST PAY FOR IT... if you want it for FREE... then do a little research on your own and get the same answers FOR FREE.
Reply:i would try the cruise lines websites themselves. I went to the site you mentioned, You must pay for their service of helping you locate this "cruisejob" "career",So it would be of concern.

How do I start about looking for a new job to match my requirements?
my current job is very dissatisfying and its the first job of my life.
How do I start about looking for a new job to match my requirements?
You have to start with a resume that says what you really want to do not something vague. Example: To find a job as a sales trainee where I can use my strong interpersonal skills. Lots of people put down something like I want a position that will afford me personal growth. That goes into the wastebasket.
Another mistake people make is to just look at help wanted ads. Only 10% of all jobs are filled through ads. Get out the yellow pages and look up companies that have the job you want. Call up and ask if you can fax over the resume and to who's attention. Follow up in a week with a phone call.
Reply:Post on profile on career sites like g2bay.
Reply:Think about what you like and enjoy. surf the Internet, ask
questions in the search bar. Please enjoy.

I am 19 years and looking for a job. Im having a hard time finding one, are there any online teens can do?
Do some mail delivery? (you dont need to talk to anyone) just to be physically able...
Or perhaps some cleaning jobs (go for jobs that arent customer focused but rather laboursome.
Just keep trying love. Perhaps practice your interviewing skills with a friend.

Iam a 16 year old looking for a job in philadelphia what is the best source?
I am interested in fashion ,sales, and commision
Iam a 16 year old looking for a job in philadelphia what is the best source?
News Paper Internet searches but i don't think a 16 year old can get a job like what u like with out Experence !!!
Reply:Any clothing store in the mall. You need experience in retail and what people are purchasing first.
Take a fashion and design class at the local community college.
Then, find a local designer and ask for an internship. You will not make much, but you will learn a LOT!

Whats a good objective for my resume when im looking for a job in the medical field?
im taking medical billing courses and want to update my resume but need help with the objective so it sounds nice. please help
Whats a good objective for my resume when im looking for a job in the medical field?
Objective statements are outdated now. Instead, simply use a job title at the top of your resume (below your name and contact information). Either use the title of the job you are applying for, or a summary of what you are qualified to do. In your case, I would use something like the following:
MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT
or...
MEDICAL BILLING ADMINISTRATOR
This makes it much easier for the reader to tell at a glance what you are applying for. Hope that helps!

How does a high tech worker start looking for a new job or a new career?
What is the 21st century way to search for new jobs or new careers?
How does a high tech worker start looking for a new job or a new career?
Check out the local job service ... Employment Security, Labor Office, whatever it called in your area for posibilities, job fairs, and labor market information.
Create or have created a resume and ask someone (or someones) to review it for readability, bevity, clarity...
Research business that have positions in your field... contact people who work there if possible and ask how they went about applying... maybe follow that advice, and then submit copies to places you want to work. Wait a day or so and follow with a phone call, to see if it was received, and then a couple days later contact the person in charge of the department you want to work in and try to set up a meeting.
Send thank you notes to all interviewers, people who were helpful (always get a name) and never ever call and ask if someone is hiring...
Let them know that you are interested in working there, you put forth some effort, always be polite from the receptionist up... you never know who has some pull.
Do not just submit resume to open positions and sit and wait for someone to knock down your door...
Reply:A job is something you look for "out there": classified ads, magazines, social connections, etc.
A career, at least a true career that uses your talent and is about something you are passionate about, is something you look "in there": inside yourself, your heart (don't worry, I wasn't going to say "your soul"!).
The book What Color is Your Parachute is quite helpful for people who want to find either a new job or career.
Good luck!

I'm actor/filmmaker attending college full time in Virginia Bach. I'm looking for a job pay $200-300 a week?
I need a job thats flexible so I was looking at restaurants like IHOP, friendlys, Golden Corral. I havent worked in restaurant but would like to be a busboy, waiter and/or host. Would I be able to make that in tips and how much should a busboy make in tips since they should get a percentage from the waiter.
I'm actor/filmmaker attending college full time in Virginia Bach. I'm looking for a job pay $200-300 a week?
The jobs listed by you pay minimum wages. Let suppose you get the minimum plus $2 in tips per hour ($7.50). In order to make $300 per week, you have to work 40 hours. Being a student, it's impossible to work 40 hours per week.
Either you need to lower your expectation or try to find a higher paying job somewhere, somehow.

I sell lia sohia jewelry. I found this after tons of research and trying to avoid scams. I love this! It's real and it pays great. You make your own hours. It's your own business. You meet with women and show and try on beautiful jewelry. You get the starter kit to begin. And it's worth it! It's yours if things don't work out for you. But it has $1000 in jewelry to start your business and the order forms and business tools you need to start. It's $149. And your first show makes you that and more! Nothing to lose! I took the plunge and I wish I would have done it sooner. This jewelry has a lifetime guarantee!, is affordable, high quality and it sells itself! No pressure, that's the part I like! It's a wonderful company, I work with lots of other women just like me and we've had nothing but a good time, positive experience and extra money while doing it. I love to share this info. because I'm grateful for the opportunity. I'm at tamarabarrett@yahoo.com and you can look at the website too! www.liasophia.com/tamarabarrett. Good luck to you in whatever you find!

2) Make some funny videos for YouTube
3) Convert the ClickBank HopLink URL for the product of your choice to a tinyurl.com or snurl.com address.
4) Edit the smaller URL into your video
5) Good luck! :)
When someone goes to the URL and buys the product, you will get a commission. Look for something that people really go for, like weight loss, hair restoration, unlimited free music downloads, etc.

I am looking for a new job but seem to be stumbling on the interview?
I have gone on several interviews, including several second interviews, but am not getting offered the jobs. What could I be doing wrong? I suspect that it is the why are leaving question. I try to say I am not challanged. Is there something else I could say that might sound better?
Please help, I have another second interview today and really need to get out of my current job. I hate it so much here and am afraid I will quit with out a replacement job lined up if I don't find something soon.
I am looking for a new job but seem to be stumbling on the interview?
Why are you leaving?
Smile. Breathe.
If you don't feel challenged... a more PR way of saying that could be:
I'm looking for a role where I can see the impact of my contributions, which is lacking in my current position. I know I can do more and be more and I'd love to have a chance to prove that to myself and to my firm.
And another key question that could make or break you...
why do you want to join their company?
Be sure to research your answer and tailor-fit how you present your competencies to that specific role and that specific company. A lot of times, I entertain interviewees who didn't even bother to read up on our company, which just astonishes me.
Fit goes both ways -- their company with you or you with them.
Good luck.
Reply:The most important thing to remember in an interview is to never say anything bad about past employment's co-workers, bosses and or type of job you had to do. In fact, it's best to not say anything bad about a previous job at all.
If you're questioned about why you're leaving a job, give answers such as: Better benefits; closer to home; better pay; better hours; different hours...
Reply:YOU CAN'T GO INTO A JOB INTERVIEW AND HAVE THEM THINKING YOUR JUST ANOTHER INTERVIEW! LET THEM KNOW WHY YOU ARE THE BEST FOR THE JOB. IF ASKED WHY YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE GOOD FOR THIS JOB, ANSWER, I HAVE HAD PAST EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE PREPARED ME TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGES YOUR JOB OPENING HAS TO OFFER. OR, I AM AWARE THAT THIS JOB OPENING REQUIRES PATIENCE AND EXPERIENCE, AND THAT THE FIELD ESPECIALLY INTERESTS YOU. AND WITH THE HOPE THAT YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION, YOU KNOW THAT YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES WILL PREPARE YOU FOR THE CHALLENGE. AND IF NOT ASKED THIS QUESTION MAKE SURE YOU FIT IT IN SOMEWHERE.
Reply:Say your seeking better opportunities, more growth in the company.
Reply:say something like "i feel it isn't using my skills to the full extent"

Looking for a job but Im young what to do?
Im 15 and I need a job Im paying for my pets and myself Im in Albuquerque NM Do you know of any jobs that would allow a 15 or 16 year old to work for them?
Looking for a job but Im young what to do?
LIFEGUARD!
You only have to be 15, and trust me it is a very relaxed job that pays decent. You will not regret it. You also get good hours depending on your pool.
Reply:work for your neighbors and your friends in the community:
dog walking was a good idea, but also yard work, house cleaning, babysitting (even for boys to do), house work(I will clean your attic for 10 bucks LOL!),
when my cousin was 10 he was a coniving little bast***! he would harrass the neighbors by terrorizing them and playing in their yards with all 30 of his friends and such: then he would make an offer: I will get out of your yard for $1, and I will clean it up for an additional $2! what a conman.
seriously you could find anything to do just ask your parents for help with asking people they know and posting flyers at their jobs if possible. Ask your friends to talk to their parents if there is any chore you could do for them or something. Opportunity is out there, just be open minded and talk to a lot of people.
legally you have to be 15 to work so good luck dear.
Reply:Go to your local job service. Many have programs for youths your age. Make sure that you look good when you go in so that you are taken seriously.
Reply:since you like pets..a dog walker.................old people and people who go to work need the service.............walk a couple at a time.................

Looking for a bartending job in MA. Any advice for a person with no experience to get a job.?
I currently just graduated from bartending school and am having a hard time since everyone is looking for an experienced bartender. My interest is working in a nightclub environment but am willing to work in a bar/restaurant. I only want to do weekends but can't seem to find someone willing to take someone with no work experience. Helppp! Any tips for my resume or where to look?
Looking for a bartending job in MA. Any advice for a person with no experience to get a job.?
I wasted my time and alot of money on one of those schools. They promised to place me in a job and supply me with insurance. Well, guess what? I spent 3 (yes three!!) months going on their stupid leads, bar after bar, and not one person hired me becuase I have no experience. I still have no insurance and they really put me in a bind by taking my money and leaving me with empty promises. The best you can do with what you have learned is entertain some friends at your house. Sorry. Another thing, no one is ever going to give you weekends because those are the busiest nights and those are for the veteran bartenders.
Reply:School with no experience?
You'll be lucky if you can land a catering gig.
Don't admit to going to school, get a job as a bar back and work your way up. No one hires bartenders especially for clubs.
Reply:the world of Bar tending is a who you know world.
So get to know some bar people and get a few weeknights under your belt. over time you'll work your way in, if you got the nack.

I'm 14 years old, and then I'm turning 15 on my birthday. What would be some good jobs for me to look for?
I need a job working from home, or something close to my house because I can't drive by myself for another year. But I would really like a job either working from home, or say, Walgreens.
I'm 14 years old, and then I'm turning 15 on my birthday. What would be some good jobs for me to look for?
McDonalds :)
Reply:My grandson Is hooked on working at Kroger's the grocery store he gets all kinds of little extras
Walgreens can be demanding they do not have all that many people working in the store And one person is a lot to be off
The big fast food places also have the same problem We need you to work as much as you can We still have that sign up Need help Please work When ever you can???
That kind of kills you after school life so don't for get to think of that you do have friends
You will be working 51/2 days a week soon enough for the rest of your life till you are 70 years old to think of that
Reply:try for a video store easy job (not much thinking involved)
Reply:Do you mean to say that you are leaving school?
That is the dumbest thing I ever heard.
You can still be successful though, if you learn a trade and start your own business.
Our laws are changing soon to stop anyone leaving school before they turn 17.
I'm sorry that your parents aren't willing to support you through college.

BUT
get some sort of after-work study course or do a traineeship - don't settle for entering work at 14-15.
Information technology, human services (health, aged care, nursing) and hospitality are continuing growth industries in which to gain skills and find a niche - a good job means a good life and freedom in your spare time.
Get educated every chance you can - exspecially with certification but even work-based skilling is better than no skilling.
Kepp good records of all your skilling
and sell your little asse off whenever you approach am employer.
Positive Attitude is everything and the hardest thing for an employer to find in employees
good luck - don't stop learning - don't be told you're not clever enough - or be driven by the excitement of money.
You'll make heaps MORE money with qualifications to your name!

Why does the older generation meaning our parents not realize that 99% of ALL jobs are looked for and filled?
Filled out on line and noone hardly does the paper applications anymore? So when you try and tell your parents and others that are not computer literate to the simple stuff of computers they get all pissy and think that now adays you must go to every shop store whatever to apply? My folks do not understand that at all. This is not the 70's or 80's.
Why does the older generation meaning our parents not realize that 99% of ALL jobs are looked for and filled?
its hard to find jobs because of this. even if you did try and submit a paper application, people look at it like it is a dinosaur bone. my only real job has been at sears and i got that because of a friend. i was fired after 3 months..
Reply:The first answerer was a little harsh, lol. I don't know how old you are but that is true for a lot of jobs. Computers have replaced almost everything. If you need to find a job, you should be on the computers non-stop, filling out applications.
However, I will say that it is harder with the way the economy is now to find a job, but you can try a temp agency, too.
Reply:This online application trend is only a couple of years old, so old timers don't realize how much the internet has become a business tool. It still doesn't hurt to put on a good suit and go business to business sharing copies of your resume. Even if a business isn't hiring, you might score an interview and a return call. Be sure to include your email address on your resume.
Reply:Well, I wouldn't say that ALL jobs are filled. Thinking that way won't get you anywhere. But most of your job searches must be done online. That's how things are nowadays.
But my 86-year-old grandmother recently told me that I don't have a job yet because I sit my lazy butt on the computer all day.
Uhm, helllooo??? What do you think I'm doing all day on the computer?
They don't know any better. Just let them rant. It won't affect your job search, dude.
Reply:So, I take it this is your excuse for not working?
I don't buy it. Every job I've gotten, I've filled out the supposedly "dead" paper apps.
Get off your butt and and find a job!
Reply:It's hard to break people of what they are used to, but it can help you to show up to a potential job in person

Who is Liable if Fired? Company found out He is Looking for New Job?
Here is the situation a friend applied for a job, went to the interview and asked that the new company not to contact his current employer. The new company made a verbal offer he did not yet receive a written offer yet.
The HR department approached him today and wondered if it was ok to release his employment information to someone who had contacted them by phone uh oh! They did not seem pleased!
He kind of panicked and said ok. He then emailed the new potential employer and asked nicely if they had called. They said no but "Maybe their 3rd party Background check company did"
He made it clear he did not want the current employer contacted both on the application and verbally during the interview.
I asked if he remembered if he signed a waiver for a 3rd party to contact his company and others for background information. He did not remember. He is worried about his current job, if he decides not to take this offer.
Now his company knows does he have recourse if fired and vs. who?
Who is Liable if Fired? Company found out He is Looking for New Job?
As long as it is 'at will employment' which means they can fire him and he can quit, whenever, then he will be in the right. His current employer CAN NOT fire him unless they have a legit reason. Not that he was seeking new employement, period. So, he should not worry. But, if he still is, he may just consider taking the offer and moving on before they let him go. That way he can avoid the whole thing all together and hey, if he was looking for another job anyways, why not leave if given the opportunity. Good luck. Also, if it does lead to him being fired, he can call his state employement agency and get a referal to a lawyer who specializes in faulty terminations. Hope all works out.
Reply:He does not have an recourse. On the application it says me way contact your current employer for a reference and you have the right to say no for whatever the reason may be. As far as the third party it is just part of the background check which I am sure had to be done. It is very unlikely any company would take on an employee without a background check especially in todays post 9-11 society.
Your friend is not the first and certainly not the last employee to entertain other job offers while still with their current company. If he is not under contract, he has the right to look for other jobs within or outside of the company. Something for your friend to keep in mind is in the United States anyone not under contract or under a Union is employed at will meaning the employee can quit or be let go for circustances within reason.
Reply:Depends on what kind of job he has. If he is a labor union, then they can help him out. If he is an "at-will" employee though, like most people are, then he can be fired for looking for another job, and that's it. Private companies can fire people for whatever reason they want (as long as its not racial, gender or some other form of discimination, or without demonstrable cause). So your answer is, no one is liable if he is fired.
That said, a company is obligated to obtain consent before running a background check on someone, and the subject of that check can request a free copy of the results as well.

Supposedly there is a place called Greenfield Online...they have a lot of surveys that you can fill out. But I'm not recommending them...I did a few of their surveys before.
I'm not going to refer you to some company and say, "They will pay you if you'll just do this and that survey or do some basic data entry for 'x' company". Honestly...I don't believe there are any legit companies out there that truly pay enough (if anything at all...) to do stuff at home. I'd be the first one on that, if it were true...because I love doing stuff at home on the computer (and it would make an excellent add-on for income). But alas...this is a pretty cruel world and most of the people on this internet world are after nothing more than your information for identity theft purposes. Sorry. :-)
Reply:Try chacha.com, at the bottom, sign up where it says 'become a guide' They pay immediately, it doesnt cost you a thing, and you can work whenever you want.

I'm 14 years old. I'm looking for a job, but once i have one will I need to pay taxes?
Depends on how much you make. Since you are a minor, you can't claim yourself as a dependent as your parents claim you. But since you don't earn that much, you won't be paying much. You can get some good info either at the www.irs.gov website, or call 1800-829-1040.
I'm 14 years old. I'm looking for a job, but once i have one will I need to pay taxes?
You will have to get a work permit from your school before any legit company will even look at hiring you. Most places don't allow that until 16.
You will have to pay taxes if you live in the US, and your parents/guardian will need all of the financial info for their taxes as well.
Reply:Well, yes you will. They'll take out 7.65% for social security and medicare. You might or might not also owe federal, state and/or local income taxes - that depends on how much you make.
Reply:THEY WILL TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR CHECK if you have a "real" job - BUT WHEN YOU FILE YOUR INCOME TAX RETURN AT THE END OF THE YEAR - YOU WILL PROBABLY GET ALL OF IT BACK. I ALWAYS DID UNTIL I WAS MAKING REAL MONEY. I AM ASSUMING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU WILL BE MAKING WON'T BE MUCH, SINCE I DIDN'T MAKE ENOUGH TO NOT GET ALL MY TAXES BACK UNTIL I was 20 or so. If you are going to be working for cash (mowing lawns or smthng) then you will probably not be making enough to have to pay taxes. You can go to IRS.gov and see what the amount is - but I believe if you bring in less than around 14,000 a year or so - you are not required by law to pay any taxes out of your own pocket.
Reply:Yes but you can also file taxes and get it returned b/c you are under 18
Reply:Well if you earn over a certain amount a week, you might have to. But I don't think there are much jobs that pay over a 拢100 a week to 14 year olds.

I currently live in Illinois but I am moving to Hawaii in May. I am not going there before I move. Do I start applying now? Or do I wait until I get there and then start applying. I do not want to be without a job for too long once I get there.
What is the best way to look and apply for jobs when moving out of state?
Usually when companies post job listings they have an immediate position to fill. I would wait until a week or two before you move out there to answer a job listing.
Reply:It depends on what position that you will applying for. Do you have something special to offer or are you one of many people with that experience. There are agencies that specialize in out of state jobs. If you do not have job in the making by May, you can do temporary work in the meantime.
I would suggest that you look for job a large companies that have a branch in Hawaii. My niece moved from California to Hawaii with a company that open a branch in Hawaii. It was a large cable company, and she had to take a cut in pay. The cost of living is way, way higher in Hawaii than in most states. After a couple of years she ended up coming back to California.
Reply:Look on yahoo yellow pages for companies in your field in Hawaii just before you move and give them a Hawaiian address, but your current cellphone. Call and find out if they have openings and if you can fax over your resume and to who's attention. If they don't have an opening ask them if they know someone who does. Follow up with call to person you faxed to
Reply:I would research on the Internet and write some companies you might be interested in. It would not hurt to put in an application with an "available by" date.
Reply:You can do research, but don't apply for yet. If you are not available for an interview, it will look bad. It depends on your field, but you could probably safely apply for a job 4-6 weeks prior to your moving date. If the company is interested in you, they could wait for a few weeks.
Reply:Start by looking for the local newspaper online - and then apply for jobs when your move gets closer. Put in your cover letter that you are moving on such and such a date. You may not get any call backs, because many don't want to interview or hire until someone moves to their area. Don't be discouraged!! The other thing to consider is a temp agency there - at least until you get settled. This way you have some income coming in.
Reply:Use the internet. Many employers post psitions with services such as Monster.com and others. Or call the local Better Business Bereau and find other employment services.

I live in London and I'm looking for a job, does anyone know who's hiring?
I work in an engineering firm and they're not winning contracts so they're letting go of contractors, my end date is next week. I want to know if anyone has been in the same position and has come across any agencies that are particularly helpful in finding them jobs or if anyone knows of any companies hiring at the moment? Right now I would do almost any job to pay the bills.

When should I begin looking for a teaching job?
I am currently student teaching, and I have been researching local schools. I will graduate in May, and I want to know if it is too early to begin looking for a job? I do not want to teach at my current school, but I know that it's almost a guarantee that I will be hired here. Any advise?
When should I begin looking for a teaching job?
It's not too early to start. There might be a position where the current teacher has already announced plans to move or retire.
I would plan on getting applications for school districts that you are interested in now and start working on them. Most districts will keep your application on file for at least a year.
Around here (Texas), districts renew contracts around March, and the teachers who do not re-sign contracts leave openings that are usually posted starting in April. More openings come up as teachers who did sign contracts but want to leave the district get offers elsewhere.
In general (here, at least), start sending out letters of inquiry and filling out applications around spring break, but don't get worried if you don't hear back until May. There will also be new postings during the summer, so keep trying if you don't get one of the first jobs posted.
Good luck finding the right school!
Reply:Its never too early to be looking and the more information you can get now - the better off you will be later. I would if I were you keep this school in your back pocket and don't lose it because simply put there just aren't any guarentees and to be honest unless your are currently at a private school (and in that case get out - the pay stinks and you shouldn't short change yourself) understand the most important thing is simply getting your foot in the door.
Good luck!!!
Reply:As already stated, start looking now. The only thing I can suggest is to start collecting letters of reference or recommendations from anybody who will write one. Don't forget fellow student teachers, current and former teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, and teachers in neighboring rooms. It never hurts to have too many and you don't have to use them all (or any of them).
If you teach in a lower grade, have the students write letters for you. They can be endearing, eye-opening, and ego-bruising, but it is fun to include them in a portfolio. And it makes a great lesson for letter writing.
Good luck in your job search.
Reply:Today...what state do you live in and what do you teach? Certain states open up school in August, and others in September.
Reply:NOW is the time to start looking! In my district I know we have already received applications for the next year. This was back before Christmas break. Make sure you have a good relationship with the teacher that is supervising your student teaching. That person can be your best resource in your process. Good luck.
Reply:Go to a job fair of the county you are interested in teaching. Search district websites to find out when those fairs are.
Reply:LOOK NOW! Districts start the hiring process as early as March for next September. Best of luck! Also... don't be afraid to play the "Six Degrees of Separation" game! Don't be afraid to tell your boyfriend's cousin's wife, who happens to work in a district, that you are looking!

Looking for info on Law Enforcement Jobs?
I was wondering if a person with asthma (I have an inhaler)can take BLET, and work as a police officer, sheriff's deputy, etc. Also, if not, what other jobs are out there for someone with a two-year degree in CJ?
Thanks.
Looking for info on Law Enforcement Jobs?
I have asthma and was a cop for 18 years. I went to work at the sherriff dept and was a deputy for 2 more years. As long as you can control your asthma with an inhaler you should have no problem. There are times it was hard because of the asthma, but you can be hired.
Reply:you would half to check with the force , or try a security job
Reply:asthma is no biggie. you can go into the office of the city police department and ask if they need cadets. and they will help you from their on.
Reply:Call the personnel office of the police agency where you want to work. You can get a job as a records clerk in most police agencies even with asthma.
Reply:Find lots of info on law enforcement jobs in the online version of the Occupational Outlook Handbook:

I'm looking for legitimate FREE online jobs, has anyone found any?
I'm a college student and also a wife and mother. I find it very hard to work while in school full-time. I've been searching for something I can do from home that won't be extremely time consuming and that won't cost me anything to start. I'm not looking to get rich. I just want make a little extra cash. I haven't had any luck so far. I've tried clickbank which is an affiliate program, but the only way to really make any money with an affiliate program is to pay an arm and a leg for advertising. I've looked into data entry also, but I've never found a free one. They all want money before you can start which means they are probably a scam. Does anyone know of any good, legit online jobs that are free? I would greatly appreciate any replies. Thanks!

I am still awiting a genuine response to Home based/Virtual Jobs. I am looking for one. Can you help find it?
Most of the ads. for Home based jobs/virtual jobs are from scammers. Is there a wy to find a genuine employer directly.
I am still awiting a genuine response to Home based/Virtual Jobs. I am looking for one. Can you help find it?
ok, here is my opinion on cashcrate and treasuretrooper...I decided to give them a good try. Some people say it works for them, but I found it takes a GREAT deal of time for a tiny reward. Involves reading thru pages and pages of advertising and clicking no to everything, then when you finally get to the last page, it has something you cannot say no to or you cannot submit it...so you can't get paid your lousy dollar for your hours worth of work. Not worth it to me.
Reply:seriously ... the best way to end up working at home is to start out with a regular job first then work your way toward being your own boss.
boring but true - there is not simple short-cut because if there was we all would be taking it already!

What's the best way to tell a current employer you are looking for another job?
and interviewing.
What's the best way to tell a current employer you are looking for another job?
You don't tell your current employer. Just take care not to look on your current employers time - don't use their resources to go job hunting.
Tell your current employer only when you are set to resign.
Reply:Do you have to TELL them anything??? I mean, once you find another job and need to give your two weeks notice that's one thing ... but I don't think I would voluntarily TELL anything until I had something else lined up for sure. What if they decide to let you go before you find anything new? What if you don't get hired anywhere else?
Reply:Don't. Let your employer get the reference call then, he will either offer you a raise or, a promotion or, both in order to keep you if you are good employee.
Reply:Go: "Hey, im looking for another job." Being open and honest with your employer makes for a better reference. Even if they get pissed because you are quitting, they at least respect it since you didnt sneak around and got a new job then just quit. By telling them, they have time to find someone to replace you while you look for a new job.
Reply:Let them know the reason why, if it's a good reason (wanting out of a certain industry, wanting to work closer to home, more pay, less/more hours) and tell them you've enjoyed working for the company but you feel you need to advance your career. Do not leave in any negative way and make sure you at least put in two weeks before you quit.
Reply:It depends. If you have a good relationship with your current employer and feel comfortable with your boss you can let them know that you're "considering" a different career path that could result in you leaving the company. Don't let them know that you're interviewing or ask off work to go on an interview. If you need to interview for a new job when you're scheduled to be working at your current job, let your employeer know you have an "appointment" or a "personal matter" to attend to. As long as you give your employer plenty of notice, they should not pry and ask you what type of appointment it is. If they do ask you can just say it's personal. I would sugguest being very careful when leaving your job; you don't want to burn any bridges. And if your employeer is a good person, they will understand completely. If you don't care about your current job or your employer, just give your 2 weeks notice (if that) if you don't mind burning a bridge. Hey, sometimes you have to do what's best for you.
Reply:In a normal situation I would not tell them that you're looking around, unless of course you're hoping that they counter offer to try and keep you. That can be risky. If you're on great terms with your current supervisor they would understand that you want to move a head or into something different so just tell them that, especially if you want to use them as a reference.
The reason why I would not tell a current employer that I'm looking is because it might cause bad feelings and make your job more difficult or they may let you go entirely when they have found a replacement for you.
Reply:You don鈥檛, if you want to keep your current job until you find another one. Unless you have an employment contract, admitting to job hunting is reason enough for your current employer to fire you. They have no right (or reason) to know a thing until you submit your 2 week notice.
Reply:Don't- until you get the next job. If you do and don't get hired someplace else right away it will be too strange between the two of you. You only give the two week notice when you have a job someplace else for sure.
Reply:Personally, i wouldnt tell them. Only when you get a new post and hand your notice in.

HR told my boss I am looking for another job?
Recently I spoke with my company's HR department about it's reference policy. In strict confidence, they asked me if I was looking and gave me some pointers on what to do in regards to references. Recently I was pulled aside by my supervisor who informed me that HR had told my boss that I was actively looking for another job. My supervisor tried to defend HR, but I was under the understanding that HR was to keep this information under strict confidence. I am looking for an unbiased opinion as I'm not sure if this proper practice between HR and upper management. I feel like I've been put in a bad position as I'm sure management feels a bit uneasy about my position. Thanks everyone!
HR told my boss I am looking for another job?
WHOA...They did what! I know that HR individuals, look at the good for the company, but in my experience and my opinion, I would not have done that. I would have advise you, the employee to notify your supervisor that you are expressing interest outside the company but by no mean will it effect your performance at work. As an HR person, I would keep it on tab. Others may not agree with me and that is fine. I take HR to the next level... to the Gen X level where by the book is not necessarily the right way of handling things all the time.
My suggestion to you is to sit down if you have not yet with your supervisor and express you thought and ideas and goals. It may be that you're not challenged enough there and they do not realize it. Now that is if you are happy with your current employer. Or fess up and tell them that you would like to venture out and that you have learned all that you can here.
Good Luck
Reply:I agree, your HR rep should not have told you that it was in "strict confidence" and then have told your boss, however, it is the HR person's responsibility to look out for the best interest of the company AND the employees. I believe that the one who should be reprimanded is the supervisor. He/she has a big ole mouth and was probably told in confidence and went off and blabbed it. In any event, it's a tough situation but your supervisor made it even tougher.
Reply:HR should not have told your boss, but I ran in to the same thing a few years back with a former employer.
Reply:If you didn't want your boss to know I wouldn't have told anyone at my work. I don't care if they did say in strict confidence people lie. Words are just words. It's tough because if you don't get that other job now they will look for little reasons or make one up to fire you. Maybe or maybe not. I believe HR works directly with upper management but i don't know for sure. Good luck.

What salary a person can expect if he has 4 yrs exp & 4 yrs out of job,now he is looking for IT jobs @ Hyd?
in IT jobs a fresher is more prefered than some one who stayed out for 4 yrs after having 4 yrs experience
a fresher is up to date than the other guy. still there is a chance!
What salary a person can expect if he has 4 yrs exp %26amp; 4 yrs out of job,now he is looking for IT jobs @ Hyd?
I.T. is one of the hottest field in market.and experience meant a lot in this field.so i think a job in this field should be paid 10000-15000RS/-.
beginning with a job with this much amount is good as u r returning to industry after 4 years.good work will force company to increse ur salary. if sees no chances of promotion then u can look for other company.
so i think and believe that start with so this salary is good.
Reply:4 years out of the IT field is an eternity.........
you would be lucky to get a job in the IT/IS field with that kind of gap. Have you be in school for 4 years?? have you at least kept up with the newest and best stuff?
I would think that the best that you could hope for (based on the information you have provided) is entry / intern level. probably not what you wanted to hear, but is honest.

Im looking for a good job once I leave the Navy in a few months, what are my options considering my experience?
I started out a deck seaman, then I did some work with a construction batallion, and then I became an Aviation Ordnanceman 3rd Class. I would like to be a civilian again, but I dont think that my options are too open; I dont think the pay will be worth getting out of the military... Any prior servicemembers who have any advice?

well unless you really hate the navy -- stay in -- bust your butt go up rank and retire top dog with a good retirement pay-- finish college while in and also start planning you second career now!!!
Reply:The navy didn't help you find a new job or steer you towards something similar to your former jobs? Yay Air Force! If you talk to your old recruiter they might offer a few suggestions. I'm not sure myself.

I am 15 and looking for a job that deals with horses. I am lookng for a job in Morgan Hill or san martin,CA.?
I want to work at a horse ranch or something that deals with horses. If you have any websites or info please message me back.
I am 15 and looking for a job that deals with horses. I am lookng for a job in Morgan Hill or san martin,CA.?
Some places to try are boarding stables or horse racetracks. At your age you might be able to get a job cleaning stalls. Its not glamorous but its a foot in the door and a way to make contacts with a lot of horse owners.
Reply:If I were you, I'd contact the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association and get a list of local trainers. You might also contact the managers of local horse shows to find out if there are any ring crew jobs going on weekends.

Waitressing? Depending on the area you live.
If you are good w numbers, I suggest getting your accounting clerk certificate at your local adult ed. Accounting clerks make approx $38k per year
Maybe you could also learn to be a fitness instructor....
I have been where you are. I searched for months to find a job. You may have to take something in retail or food service.

Looking for a job, is it ok to just put down that i had to quit job beacuse i moved or tell them i got fired?
or what about leaving it blank how will they now i worked at that certain place.
Looking for a job, is it ok to just put down that i had to quit job beacuse i moved or tell them i got fired?
you arent obligated to list every single job. You can just list RELEVANT jobs youve had in the past. THOSE are the ones they care about. Well, they can easily check your work history, eg: they would know youve never worked at a place if you lied. I dont suggest to say you got fired. Just make something up. I got fired 2 mos ago, I just got a job and I never mentioned getting fired, I said I was looking for something other than what I had done previously, a challange.... They bought it. Man I been fired so many times, but each job just keeps getting better!! Serious. try to find a buddy in there to list as reference that wont give you away and youll be fine TRUST ME. Worst comes to worst: you had to move, long commute, conflicting schedule, nothing negative.
Reply:Lying on your job application is grounds for termination. Even if you the company does not fire you for lying in your job application, it may raise questions about your reliability and trustworthiness.
If you were fired, then it is better for to admit it and then explain what lessons you learned from the experience. That way, you can turn a negative into a positive.
Reply:Well, obviously saying that you moved will have a more positive affect on your potential employer but if he/she phones your old employer and finds out you were fired not only will you not get the job but you could be charged with fraud. Legally speaking however you are not obliged to tell them anything.
Reply:Stick to telling only truths
there is no time limit on answering questions. when you are asked offer explinations. Every situation that has taken place holds inside of itself two differing sides. so relax tell your tale and stop being in fear. Fear will eat you alive. Exercise confidence in what you know %26amp; what you offer the new firm... walk forward with your head held high! Employers are looking for confident additions
not fearful types living in yesterday..
Good fortune to you

Looking for a job in TX while living in MS. No responses from 25 resumes I sent out for vacant positions.?
The positions I applied for are all in line with my qualifications and skill level. I am curious to why I haven't received any responses. Is it because employers give preference to local candidates over out of state candidates?
Looking for a job in TX while living in MS. No responses from 25 resumes I sent out for vacant positions.?
HR recruiters don't think that someone applying from out of the area is a viable candidate. Make sure you indicate in your cover letter that you are relocating to the area and you are available to interview at any time (but you have to mean it).
Follow up with a call within a week of mailing your resume, and reassure the recruiter that you are relocating and you're available to come in for an interview.
Reply:Not sure. But I want to confirm you are not using those stamps with the Mickey Mouse picture on them.

Im looking for a job in BoysTown Chicago?
Im 16 years old and I'm gay so I'm looking for a job that I can relate to...ummm i live in chicago illinois...and I live close enough to go over to BoysTown...those anyone know of any jobs there....that are looking for hire, especially guys my age?
Im looking for a job in BoysTown Chicago?
Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:
1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.
2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.
3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.
4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.
5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.
6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you.
7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.
8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.
Good luck!

I am an at home mom and I am looking for data entry jobs. any advice?
Yes. Do NOT go to a website somewhere that promises to get you employment or sign you up for so-called "surveys". Put a small ad in your local paper, search for companies in your area and fire off some emails, (call Human Resources and get the proper person's name and email address). In search engines, get away from the wheeler-dealers that have the first twenty pages tied up by manipiulating the search engine. Go to the middle pages and start finding the real companies or organizations. Check your city for databases (for instance, in my first search to do the same thing you want to do, I ran across my city's database entry that named every business available in my city, along with contact information. The Yellow Pages is also a great place to start). Consider it your job for 1 1/2 hours a day to look for data entry positions.
If you absolutely cannot resist going in on one of the sites where they promise to get you jobs for a fee or pay you for reading email, READ the terms and conditions before even signing in and know how to interpret what is in there. "Requires participation in offers..?" My advice? Pay yourself. Get your own jobs.
Good luck!

How should I go about it...I've been through a couple years of college and dont know where to start. Do I just go down to the police station and ask or what? and what should I expect? are their any requirements before hand I should know about? and what kind of tests are applied?
If I was looking for a job in Law Enforcement?
it is extremely simple. see what the requirements are and where ever you apply.all you have to do is ask.

Reply:First off it depends on where you live, and depends on what you took in college. Here in Canada if you have a diploma in either Police Foundations or Law/Security that will work wonders for you. What kind of career in law enforcement do you want? If you live in Canada you must meet the following expectaions
1) You must have your GED (Highschool diploma)
2) 2 years of college prefarbly Police Foundations
3) You must attend and graduate from the Ontario Policing College located in Alymer Ontario and they will require a physical, written and oral exam
4) You must have a valid driver's license
5) You must pass a criminal and credit background check
6) You must have your CPR/First Aid License
If not thats not to say you can't have a career in law enforcement; You can still become a PI, a security guard, customs officer, border patrol etc.
Hope that helps.
Reply:yep. pretty much, smaller depts may not require no college just entry level positions
i know the nypd wants you to have like 90 credit hours of school and or military service
tests differ with each dept, some have none, some have a lot
test you can expect are physical tests, job related written tests, and tests to see if your crazy, lie detection tests
and job with the federal government like fbi, they want a 4 year degree
you can go to www.911hotjobs.com and do a search for law enforcemnt jobs in your state
Reply:I dont know why you wanna do that- Do you have a power trip and like pulling poor people over for no reason? Real ambitious i tell ya, keep hittin the books jack

I am an American living in Okinawa Japan an I am looking for a job can any one help?
Why don't you go and apply at the American council in Japan? Or you can also apply for a job on the military Navy base, and I am sure there are many American company's out there that will hire you cause you speak English. Good luck.
Reply:I would use the different search engines and use keywords like 'Japan employment opportunities, jobs in Okinawa'...etc. Try monster.com's global getway too.

Other than hitting the "Apply Now" button on job search web sites, how does one go about looking for a job?
With no recent experience, no friends and family (other than immediate family) within 200 miles, what do you do?
Other than hitting the "Apply Now" button on job search web sites, how does one go about looking for a job?
Without having an "in" somewhere it is going to be a little harder to find a job, especially with today鈥檚 economy. The best and most efficient thing would be to apply to as many jobs in your area in the field you want to work. The most important thing is to follow up with each and every one of them. So many people apply for jobs by hitting the "apply now" button and wait for someone to call. Its not gonna happen. Just like everything else, the more you put in the more you get back. The site http://theonlinebeat.com offers a search where you can check the postings on 5 different major job boards and you only enter your job description and location once. It saves some time and helps you keep track of the jobs you applied for. Good luck!!!
Reply:Write up a good resume that describes your qualifications and the kind of position you would really like. Write it in clear English with complete sentences. Make it sound like you are an interesting person that other people would like to spend time with. Often the question of whether they like you or not is as important as your actual qualifications. Put it into a word document and attach it to emails that you send individually to all of your friends and just ask them to pass it on to anyone who might have an opening.
Reply:Before I had my own business, I use Monster.com to look for jobs, they have recruiters who can shop for you like you shop on line. Start there and you can get the company info and call them up yourself. With monster.com, instead of taking any job you can actually apply for the job you want. Good Luck!
